CHANDIGARH: Haryana government on Monday generated a revenue of Rs 717.75 crore by auctioning liquor vends of the state for the year 2004-05.The auction was held at Ambala.
This is an increase of 3.02 per cent over the revenue of Rs 696.89 crore generated by a similar auction held last year for the current financial year.
Revealing this here on Monday, a spokesman of the excise and taxation department said that the auction was held under the supervision of collector DP Sarohi.The entire process had been video filmed to ensure transparency, said the spokesmman adding that the liquor vends, including those for country made liquor, for the eight districts of Karnal, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar,Panipat, Sonipat, Jhajjar, Faridabad and Gurgaon had been auctioned for Rs 372.50 crore as against Rs 360.90 crore for the current financial year.

Similarly, the vends for the remaining 11 districts of Ambala, Bhiwani, Fatehabad,Hisar, Jind, Kaithal, Narnaul, Panchkula,Rewari, Rohtak and Sirsa had been auctioned for Rs 345.25 crore as against Rs 335.70 crore generated for the current financial year, the spokesman added.
